my speedometer, trip meter, and odometer just stopped working the other day. the tach is fine. does anyone think this is a problem with the vehicle speed sensor? if so, does anyone know how to put a new one in? or is it a lot of work

speed sensor problem?

Yes. It is the VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor. Instructions have been posted for ATX. MTX is similar. Make sure you are getting the Vehicle and not Turbine Shaft Speed sensor. Both are called VSS in the online order forms. And make sure you get the one for the MTX.

Your VSS should throw a code for malfunctioning, if it isn't already throwing the code!

Yes, I had the same symptoms as well as it was not shifting right. I had a VSS code in the memory. I removed the VSS and found the the plastic shaft that slips inside the plastic gear, snapped off.

i changed the vss today. it was ridiculously easy. we had it done in under 10min after throwing the svt up on the lift. one of the cheap @$$ wires on the old one had seperated. thanks everyone for the help

I had the same VSS problem. The shaft on the new VSS is metal. Must be a reason.
