There's something about that i just don't like, but i don't know what it is.

I think i know what it is, the wheels. If i had the car and extra spending money, i would do wheels first thing. The stockers look good, but some different ones that werent so squared off would look better i think.

And sure the car looks cool, but does it have the balls to back up it's looks?

To actually speak on topic a little pretty much in all modern cars the speedo signal is driven by the ECU (which is why you can simply adjust your speedo for new tire sizes and stuff if you get into the ECU). So therefore they can make the speedo read however they want.

Have you not seen the newer GM cars that have one set of numbers on the speedo and you can hit a button to change between mph and kmph?

Overall I like it but the front end isn't very nice and I don't like those fender things either. I think the speedo thing is a good idea.

Way too much of the honeycomb grill for my liking, as though some designer thought that "ya ya, the kids like grills, and more grills!". hehe

Hi all from Australia. Yes, this is a mild workover of the Holden Commodore SS
(try this: www.holden.com.au to get an idea of the range in Australia )

To answer the original question re: speed numbers:
At lower speeds, when you need greater definition (in this era of speed limits and speed limit enforcement) there are 20mph (in Aust 20kph) gaps. As the speeds get higher, clearly the exact speed you are doing is less important, so 30mph increments (in the same space) are ok. The needle is controlled electronically so rate of turn slows of course!

The trip computer also has a digital speedo as one of the options, which is quite useful too.

Can i add, i've driven the Aussie version (SS) in both 6sp manual and auto, and it's amazing. Solid, powerful, a great car. Compares well with European V8s at 3-5 times the price (think E500 benz, 550i BMW - although it's a bigger car than them).

Also, announcing the export deal is huge news here in Aus b/c the local manufacturers (Ford/Holden) make Large cars, which are struggling a bit with high fuel prices. This secures Holden's local production (and local jobs). So thanks!

It looks like we'll be importing the Camaro in return, which is also ace!

Sorry for the long post.

See that's the global company GM should become. Bring us some sweet cars from down south like the Commadore, and send them some sweet cars from up north like the Corvette, Camaro, and the new Firebird when it makes it's debut (fingers crossed).

Why the hell isn't Ford bringing up the Falcon to compete? Oh wait that's right , we have the Taurus again...

All the Ford fans in Australia are wondering the same thing!

Basically, Ford Nth America refuse to believe the rest of Ford make anything good. Every other part of the Ford empire pull their hair out trying to convince them otherwise.

It's not like we couldnt use the volume. Also, Ford Aust make a great car called Territory (SUV), very similar to i think the Freestyle (IMHO better however) that's ripe for export. But the Ford empire cant make it happen. No wonder Ford loses so much money. The best example is the NA focus, which the new version was redeveloped off the old one, rather than combining with Europe to develop off theirs, supposedly to save money (again acc to Ford NA) - end result, cost overrun, ends up costing MORE than modifying the Euro version. Stupidity. I just hope Mullally can turn it around.

There's a great (small) forum www.fordaustraliaforums.com if you want more info re: aussie Fords etc.
