Hi all, I have a 1998 CSVT that has a blown motor I am planning on putting a 3.0 in this spring, But I also have a large Turbo out of a Subaru STI that I have been wanting to put in something. This would be my first turbo so i have some questions. how much PSI can a stock 3.0 handle safetly? my buddy though 9psi but want to make sure as not to wreck anything. also what is the best placement? i was thinking under by firewall or in the rear like I have seen on some vettes and such. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

take care, Chris...aka...CSVT1339

You'd probably be better off selling that turbo on eBay and buying the kit made for these cars. Since its your first turbo you're gonna hate trying to round up parts and fabricate things to make that turbo work.

Hey thats a good idea. Thanks buddy for the imput! Yea i aint new to modding cars but when it comes to a turbo I am out of my area and yea would hate to start, spend lots of money and not get to finish it.

Any good place to look for a turbo kit?

I highly doubt the turbo you have is the right size for the duratec. anyway start reading around ... but you can run upwards of ~12 psi safely on a stock 3L.

For a second there I thought you were being sarcastic so thanks for taking it as advice and not being offended. Here is the kit that most go for: http://www.npg-racing.com/p68/95-02....html?osCsid=4a4f171d7ede1362d6a99a669567f468

this quote is from the FI FAQ "a stock bottom end 2.5L has been shown to make 300 whp and 415 whp on a stock bottom end 3.0L."

and this link http://contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=34572 shows that 9psi on a stock 3.0L nets about 400-415hp. (i saw he has svt cams and UIM)

So where are you getting 12psi?
