Sa2ah's 3L

Sa2ah's 3L

I see that Sa2ah hasn't updated her info on this registry, so I will for her.

Her nice 02 3L blew up. Loud knocking noise, like really loud knocking noise.

Her new 3L is an '01 with 98,000KMs on it (60,000 miles)
Full 3L swap...we used the stock throttle cables and modified the butterfly throttle thing to make it not so touchy. Cruise cable is hooked up, I haven't tested it yet though. No engine codes right now, but surprisingly, the secondary intake box doesn't actuate...and I can't figure out why it doesn't anymore. It worked on the last 3L engine.

I'll add my 3L to the list.

1998.5 SVT - 48K original miles
2001 Taurus 3.0L - Rebuilt at 6K miles

Clevite main bearings
Clevite rod bearings
New rings
Upgraded oil pan

3.0L Heads port matched
SVT Cams
SVT LIM, UIM
Bugzuki plates
MSDS headers, y pipe
Borla cat back exhaust
Optimized throttle body
THM built trans
Shifter bolt mod
Torsen LSD

No more CEL's or leaks. To do list: tune, suspension, rims.
First time starting -------vvvv

'98.5 E1 SVT ~176,000 miles
'04 Escape motor ~11,000 miles

Port matched with NPG LIM & fuel rail mod
Stock SVT injectors
MSDS headers & Y
2.5", resonated exhaust (Magnaflows)
Stock SVT MAF & TB

'98 MTX-75 ~10 miles (take-off from an E0 SVT at Saleen)
Torsen T2
Upgraded shift forks
Focus shift tower
SPEC stage 3
SVT flywheel

Koni sport kit
TCE brakes (F & R)
BAT rear anti-sway
BradNess RSTB & end links

Since my early production tranny almost certainly had the old input shaft design, I felt that the time and expense involved in finding compatible parts would be too great. Therefore, I didn't switch to the Zetec final drive.

well, since it will take itself to the gas station now, i suppose it belongs in here.

Beast:

-1998.5/ 165k

-SE Sport

-Full 02 Sable 3.0/ 27K

-running, but not great

-NPG Base tune, NPG fuel rail adapter, Taurus grey injectors, 3.0 cams, imrc deleted in tune, functioning EGR, 2.5 IAC, SVT air box, K&N drop in, jack leg cold air snorkel, 2.5" single exit axel back w/3" Flowmaster delta-40, 3.0 coil pack, tons of wire loom and even more spray paint.

-99 SVT MTX/ 60K, resurfaced SE flywheel, 10K mile SVT clutch disk (quaife soon).

-Koni springs, stock struts (for now), gunmetal Enkie PK6's, Kumho ecsta AST's, even more spray paint

-MNB/Dark Steel Blue w/Hightowers.

-Pioneer headunit/highs, MA 750w amp, Vibe power X-over w/remote, 2 Memphis 10's, blue LED under dash, white strobes all around.

it's still got a bit of a miss, but all in all I'm happy it runs. only issues were from misinformation I received on "the other site", none of the grinding or modifying was any trouble, and all the stuff from NPG worked just as it should. had a hang up with bill jenkins not shipping a clutch disk in a timely fashion, and just went with a descent used unit from scooba steve on the boards. when I told both bills at team ford I wanted a refund, the result was to rush ship an item I no longer needed to my house, so if anybody needs it, PM me, cause it's for sale

Year of car/miles: 1996 SE with 136,000 miles

Motor: 2001 3L with 30,000 miles from Taurus

Running since Fall 08

Replaced the con rod bearings with Clevite 77's. Used SVT IM and cams with new timing chains. LIM is heavily modified to flow through the secondary plates constantly but is still operable for additional flow when fully open. Heads are gasket matched to LIM. 19 lb injectors. Have an XCAL3 but not tuned yet.

No issues other than a broken exhaust manifold stud done by the wrecker. Used a LH drill to remove it.

Even with a LSD, stiffer lower A arms, and a torque link the car is traction limited in the bottom 2 or 3 gears.

Still running strong and no issues whatsoever (2/2010).
