Anyone know where I can get the late model SVT Front brake caliper mounting brackets for the larger (278mm) rotors?

I would post on the classifieds, but like many others, I can't post there yet due to site problems.

Thanks.

I'll take used or new, PM me if you have some to sell, thx.

i was able to pick up rebuild calipers for $25 after core!!! at Murray's

thats why i said autoparts store. cheaper

That's for calipers, but he needs the caliper brackets to allow for the bigger rotors, which you cannot get from any autoparts store.

and you would be wrong. not trying to be an ass

Cardone Unloaded Caliper W/Bracket: Remanufactured

advance auto parts.

yes you can get a Reman from a auto parts store With mounting bracket. i would stay away from autozone parts. napa, advance, Murray's etc are good IMO.

I stand corrected. But I would make every effort to be certain you are getting an SVT caliper bracket and not a standard one. Although I guess since they came on the cougar as well then it isn't as limited a part as the "SVT" branding may make it seem.

UPDATE! :)

UPDATE! :)

After scouring the internet, and harrasing the part jockey's at the local parts stores I finally found what I needed.

I ended up getting an unloaded brake caliper with bracket from Advance Autoparts as JONSVT87 suggested.

The two part numbers (left and right) are:

18B4623B and 18B4622B

A definition of the part number for future reference:

The first "B" in the part number(s) states that the part includes the bracket, example follows:

18B4623B (Includes bracket)
184623B (Does NOT include bracket)

The second "B" (on the end) states that it is for the larger (178mm) rotors, example follows:

18B4623 (Caliper with smaller bracket for 260mm rotors)
18B4623B (Caliper with larger bracket for 278mm rotors)

Hope this info helps and saves someone else some time. Also, this was one of the easiest mods to do. I've had the front brakes off one other time. To do this mod (same calipers, just swapped the brackets and rotors) took me an hour total for both sides (front only).

1 hour huh? Didn't you have to remove the calipers and flush the fluid and all that good stuff?

No, I left the old calipers on and swapped the brackets from the new calipers. So there was no need to disconnect the brake lines. This may seem like a waste but I'm going to be converting my rear brakes to disc and will use the calipers on the rear with the old front rotors.

This is why it was important for me to find the right caliper/bracket combo part so that the calipers were the same and only the bracket was different (larger).

If you go that route you will have no parking brake.

How much did you pay for the caliper and brackets?

Be sure to tell us how you handle the park brake and about the custom brackets you will need to make.

Not sure about the details for the rears yet - it's going to be a spring project. The total cost for the both calipers and brackets was something like $200.30. This included two $40 core charges which I could get back if I wanted to return the old calipers (and cheat them by giving them the smaller brackets). I'm keeping the old equipment though so the total cost is what I'm out.

I believe the front SVT Focus rotors are 300mm (11.8 in). I have 15 in rims so the SVT focus brakes wouldn't fit. The 278mm rotors BARELY fit.

Also, that site doesn't specify if the calipers came with the brackets, most likely they don't. Also, I could have gotten the brake calipers for my car for around 35 bucks used as well, and the larger calipers... it is the bracket the is needed so badly.

Good eye though, if had larger rims the SVT Focus brakes would be a nice option, if the bracket lines up.

Thanks for the input.
