Pulse wheel is what I was trying to say.

maybe. it might have been a great chance of happening in a 01 and 02 cougars over a contour...but one never knows.

or you could just cover your ass and A. Use the 3L cams - use ALL the 3L timing components. or B. Use the 2.5L SVT cams - use ALL the 2.5 timing components like everyone else? Just a thought.

def not going to use 3L cams so I'll be doing my 2.5 timing components.
Thanks all for the clarification. hopefully I can get what's left of the harmonic damper off tonight so I can take off the 3l heads and sell them. The outside broke away from the center hub

recieved my 2.5 timing components yesterday (thanks 2000zxt) every part is totally different than the 3L stuff. The tensioners are about a 1/4" shorter but about twice the diameter of the 3L ones They are aslo much easier to push in. the chain guides are about twice as wide and are metal with plastic fronts instead of all plastic. The timing gears teeth are differend and it is also two pieces my 3L was a single gear.
Now all I need is a timing cover and rear valve cover so I won't have to take any parts off my Svt motor

I might have missed this but if your not using the svt cams there isn't a need to swap the timing components over.

yeah, they are a little different. the tensioners are a pain. what year 3L did you get? my gears were 2 pieces just like the 2.5. Why the rear valve cover? no COP conversion?
