just filled up yesterday after my first full tank of driving the contour.
23mpg all city miles! much better than the ~10mpg my Jeep gets! Going to change the oil and coolant the weekend of the 24th (going out of town this weekend), and will probably then do oil at 1000 miles, then 2000 miles, and then 3000 miles (God willing). This thread can probably be closed now - as it doesn't appear that I need a new motor after all!

so you dodged the bullet
Don't waste your money and time on all of those changes. Babying it now is like closing the barn door after the horses and cows have all left.
Just be happy it was a cheap fix and leave it at cheap.
