skunk is close

I'm forgetting people, I just know it.

I remember poking around in '00-01 because of cross-linking on NECO. But I never signed up until I had to make a post because of some cross-board fighting.

I have not even been here one year yet, LOL

I bought my 1st SVT in the summer of 2000, but did not register here until 2001. I never actually made it to a meet with my 1st SVT.

Something scarier .... think of what your life was back then ...

When I registered in 2001, I was 16, a junior in high school, one inch shorter and many many pounds lighter, afterschool activities included band and hanging out at the mall in the town next door with townie friends. I worked at Burger King for a few hours a week, could fill my gas tank for $14 (which was half of my weekly paycheck) and spend the rest on snacks and hanging out with friends.
The furthest I had personally driven was to Holden MA for senior portraits. Not including New England, I had visited two states (South Carolina and California) and never been out of the country. Boston was this intimidating city by the ocean. 1am was freaking late and "sleeping in" meant 9am.

It's been two years since I graduated college .. I've owned five cars (two Contours), had four cell phone numbers, lived in several cities, two states, and six apartments (including freshman dorm). I've driven across the country, ridden trains, learned subway schedules, and flown alone. Made tons of friends, including you guys <3 , and became much more assertive and independent. As I sit and look around the room, the only things I owned in 2001 were my computer printer, NES, and N64.

out of all that insanity, CEG has been one of the few consistent things...

matt, your memory always amazes me.
i wish i could remember half the stuff (or chicks) i have done since joining this board!

I don't post anywhere near as much as I did, but then again I haven't had a Contour for almost 5 years.

I remember this "xx amount of days and counting thing".... ;)

Anyway, I was sitting at my desk as an engineering co-op student one day after driving my parents hand-me-down '92 Taurus wagon to work. I was noticing lately that the tranny began to slip. Then I had an epiphany and thought about buying an SVT Contour because they were cool cars. I called up the dealer that I knew people at and asked if they had any SVT Contours, and low and behold they had a silver one on the showroom floor. Traded in the Taurus and have had the SVT since. This was July 2000.

And if there wasn't word about a Cougar S coming out, I would have bought the green one right next to it in the showroom. :nonono:

my life when I joined this forum .... I was in my second year of college. My father had had his contour since 96 and I had gotten my mystique in May 2000. This was also the time the I found the loop hole in the parking setup at Uconn and had a friend of mine from a branch campus get a parking sticker for me. I was then able to park my car over night in the commuter lots and there for have a car on campus earlier then I should of. My roommate was always buying us booze with a fake id and I was doing alot of the driving to the package store. Things all around where pretty good. Was at school, had a good group of friends on the floor that I lived on, was working on campus, gernally enjoying life. I recall gas prices getting as low as $1.10 that year also. I have been here consitantly since then through alot of ups and downs over the years.
