There are other options. Have you considered them?

The Warmonger kit is in the group buy area right now. It uses the 300 mm Focus SVT front rotor with your factory front calipers. It is accomplished with adapter brackets using the SVT or Cougar factory brackets. The rears use the Contour SVT or Cougar 280 mm front rotors, again using adapter brackets with the factory brackets and your original rear calipers.

So you end up with 300 mm fronts and 280 mm rears.

Another alternative is to use the Focus SVT calipers, brackets, and rotors. They are nearly a bolt on except for minor spacing issues solved with stainless steel washers. The Focus SVT rears don't seem to be as compatable so no one has tried to use them, but of course, you can use the rear part of the Warmonger kit with this.

Factory 16" wheels fit over the Warmonger kit or the Focus SVT setup.

The two you mentioned are fronts only. The Bear uses a Mustang front caliper with their own brackets and 13" unique rotors. 17" wheels are required. Wilwoods are available in both 12" and 13" rotors. From what I understand wheel selection is limited due to offset concerns. Maybe someone else with more familarity can expand on this.

Also someone here (Stazi, I think) has a rear big kit that uses component rotors.

The best bang for the buck is the Warmonger kit.

Um, you shouldn't get any big brake kit unless you understand your own situation well enough to ask your questions in a much less generic way.

What's not to understand, he wants to get an upgraded brake kit from one of those 2 companies and if he's willing to spend the big bucks on it, there's not much more situational awareness one needs (besides your competency to install it and knowledge of the parts required.) I have room to talk though with my last venture. lol

A generic question like that is stupid. It's like saying, I'm planning on getting fruit, should I get an apple? or an orange? The two kits are significantly different, and apply differently to different types of usage. Does this guy race competitively? Does he autocross? Does he do mad tite drifting yo? Does he just want pimp factor when he rolls by the 7-11 at 5 mph?

Making a decision on what kit to go with with ZERO criteria to base that decision on is just plain stupid.

I hear you, but some don't care about the specifics and just want to say "I got a such and such brake setup on my car" when they will probably never use it to it's full potential and to them that's alright. I personnally would like the Baer Claw Track system but I know the wife would never allow it.

Heh, didn't even notice that; I was born in Stockton, sort of in the same neighborhood, lol. And isn't it the TR-1 these days? Watching the chase cars come out while those guys are landing is pretty cool. lol

    Back on track . . .

james, if he just wants something for bling factor, that is a significant factor in deciding which kit . . . its details like that that need to be mentioned.
