That's usually from rotor run out (warped rotors). Who did the work? If it was a shop, take it back.

We did the job and it was for thr rears ! We didn't have a problem with the fronts. Could they go bad after we changed the back ! The rears are drums, shoes. Whats up with my car its been coming and going out of the shop since June ! NEW Fpump,ff, cat, brakes, new water hose, its screams when i turned it on this morning was told it needs a new belt somewhere else DAMN give me a break at least for a year !
I think i'm going to have to say bye to my ConTour soon

If the problem is from rear drums it can be from out of round drums, contamination on the shoes or drums on the friction face, or shoes that are not properly arced to conform to the drum.

Pull the wheels and drums off for a look. Contamination should be obvious, such as oil, grease, or brake fluid and often can be cleaned up with brake cleaner and sandpaper depending on how badly soaked the shoes are.

Out of round drums are harder to tell. They need to be measured with a drum micrometer.

Shoes that are not properly arced will show up from the witness marks of the beginning of a wear pattern on the shoes. The shoes should touch (and start to show wear) from the center of the shoe (center of the arc). If you have witness marks showing the initial contact of the shoe is at the ends, it will cause shudder, vibration, and often schreeching noises.

They might wear in if given enough time, but most likely will need to be arced to better conform. Decades ago, part of a drum brake job was arcing the shoes to fit the drum. Eventually brake lining manufacturers started doing a better job of arcing the shoes from the factory. Some of the cheeper products still don't though.

If the shoe arc is the problem, you should either get a better set or post back here and I'll explain how to do a shadetree brake shoe arcing that usually works.

To check for an out of round drum, jack up the rear wheel, rotate the wheel around slowly, if the drum is out of round it will turn free then become more difficult and then become easy to turn again. If that is the case have the drums machined.

If the rear brake shoes are improperly adjusted it will cause the front brakes to work harder which could lead to excessive heat and warped rotors.

get new discs. the same is happening to my car. New brakes can make the vibrations worse.
