Thread: broken shifter cable?

  1. #1

    Default broken shifter cable?

ok so i was out in my svt the other night, and i noticed it was kinda hard to get it into 2nd a couple times....then all of a sudden my shifter was totally loose and not doing anything.....the car is stuck in 3rd gear,i was able to drive it home....

looking under the boot everything looks normal...the cable is still hooked to the bottom of the shifter and everything looks ok.....i'm still guessing its the cable that's broken.....so how do i go about checking it out....and if it is the cable how hard is it to replace....i'm sure this has happened to somebody else....any help would be greatly appreciated...

Some info on how to replace it. Note that this states that it is stuck in 2nd gear. The thread referenced by Todras has a post of a CEGer with it stuck in 3rd gear.

I know how you feel. I just hate it when work interferes with my personal life.
