My brother's (Danny SLVRFRST) '99 T-RED has needed some suspension and misc work done to keep it from eating up front tires. He got a quote to 'replace' one pair of control arm bushings, and 'replace' the ball joint on the other front control arm for like $350. Shops around here are doing pretty shotty work, very expensive, and often it seems like the work doesn't last. There has been work done on these parts once already over a year ago so it's frustrating to have these issues linger......

Danny wanted me to work on it because he knows he will get the best parts and someone to work on it that doesn't have their head up their a$$. The money is better spent on getting the right parts, and the most best parts he could.

Its been a busy summer for me, but I said I would work on it. He brought the car over and left it for a couple weeks while he purchased and had all the parts shipped to my house.

While waiting for parts I had to move the cars around a few times and my mother-in-law didn't see that Danny's car was parked across the street from the end of our driveway and managed to crush the drivers door in when she backed out in her car.

Work hasn't even started on the car and now we have MORE work to do. We tracked down another '99 T-RED door 7 hours away in Ann Arbor Michigan.

John and Steve met up with us where we found the donor door and we stuck around and had lunch with them, had a great time! Excellent mini meet.

Got home late but managed to get the donor door on the car and lined up best we could. Still needs a little gap adjustment but otherwise its working good.

Here is the list of parts and work that needed to be done after the door incident:
-new front/rear sway bar endlinks
-new front/rear sway bar bushings
-new front OEM control arms with ball joints
-new idler pulley
-new tensioner pully
-used 30k mile Koni front/rear shocks
-used 30k mile Ground Control front/rear coilovers
-new front/rear strut mounts
-used BAER front brake kit
-used stainless brake lines
-new OEM rear calipers
-new 6mm front wheel spacers
-new 215/45/17 tires

The calipers got here so I broke down the BAERs for blasting and got painting the rear calipers.

Then the work begins to tear out the suspension and all the other brake parts.

Gotta love it. Family: Can't live with them; can't live without them. At least you were able to find a replacement door in good shape. Seems like quite the little project you've got there.

can this be my spot?

Yes, but no one will understand your silly joke now! hahaha

Yeah, we were very lucky to get that door. Seller really slacked on the true condition of the door and pretty much told me it was MINT :nonono: (peeling clear, blistered paint, scratches, nicks, dings), we drove way too far to not take it with us. Price was right, we will continue to look for a better '99-00 svt t-red door but this will do for now.

That was fast! Lol. Didn't suspect that you had already finished all of this. Threw me off, coming back 40 mins later.

Hahahaha. I wish it went that fast! That car was in my garage for at least 3-4 weeks .

PS, this use to be my car. I bought it broke down sitting for a few years. Put in a 3L and built trans, cleaned and fixed it up, and sold it. A year later the buyer wanted to sell it to buy a brand new car and he offered it back to me. I called my brother and he ended up selling his 98 silver frost svt and bought this 99 t-red so it is back in the family .

Here is the original thread when I bought the car:

Dude, they were awesome! I could have had 10 more easy. Wish I had some right now.

That's right, you met us over there to give me some parts. Man that feels like so long ago! The car still runs great and has the borla. It will get headers so that will make the exhaust a little louder.

I'm not sure if he has just the headers or Y-pipe too. MSDS headers for sure.

I found one for you Absolute Auto Salvage USA-WI(Milwaukee) 1-414-671-5800 It says its insurance quality and needs 0 hours to recondition or A0 the notes on it is that its behind building. tell em u found it on carpart. there was no price =/ good luck mang
