3l crank stub mod

Hi all,
I am finishing up converting from one 3l block to another and i
Noticed that the crank end on the flywheel side sticks out roughly
1 inch on new block and the old one appears to be flush???

Do i need to gring/cut that nipple down flush or can it be left alone
Without worries?

Cut it off flush or pull out the pilot bushing.

I cut mine off, and don't forget to cut the two aluminum tabs off the block where the alternator mounts:
