Default What oil should i run?

right now i just run 5w 30 synthetic mobil1 or royal purple (in summer, that stuff is spendy) but what should i be using for the nitrous....should i be running a heavier oil to protect better? i know guys with boost do this i dont really know if i should or not, i talked to NX and they said "follow your manufacturers recommendation" basically so they dont get blamed if something happens..... im looking for a better answer than that! thanks in advance for any input

The reason the turbo guys run higher viscosity oil is because turbocharging generates huge amounts of heat, which is absorbed by the oil. Because oil thins as it heats up, they run thicker oil to compensate. Nitrous has the opposite effect, it actually cools when you spray. Basically, compressing air gives off heat, and expanding air (a nitrous shot) cools.

    The moral: Stick with 5w30.

5W-30 Purple or AmsOil. You can get AmsOil really cheap in Flake at the auto parts store behind TCF, used to be a Champion. Only place I get the AmsOil, cheapest around.

Royal purple (if you can afford it) and use the 5w30. I realize it isn't as ideal as the 10w30, but the 5w30 well...under regular driving should run swell. I think BITOG had something about this on their site, check it out.

yes amsoil discontinued that oil i have. there were about 3 different 2 stroke oils that did this. none of there automotive stuff has had any real problems but i wont take the chance after all that. amsoil ended up forking out a ton of money to people that could prove the oil ruined the engines, but many people were left SOL.
