Although it may be pricey, you may still be able to get the full cable set via a Ford Dealer (check Tousley). I bagged a spare set about 2 - 3 years ago and there were still over 100 in warehouse inventory at that time.

I bought set from local dealer 6 mo ago, they came from loacal Ford warehouse.
do you remember the part number by chance?

The part number was XS7Z-7E395-AB. I'm pretty sure that covers all 1998 - 2000 Contours but in case I'm wrong, that was the number that fits my 1999 CSVT with a build date of 3-29-1999.

Late '99 thru 00 on the "tours and thru '02 on the Cougar have a revised style of cable, completely interchangeable with the older style, as long as exchanged as an entire assembly.
