    Default Euro Spec MTX-75

ok from the top... on my 2000 SVT, the tranny failed somehow and any way the case is in 4 parts not the 2 it should be. so i'm looking for a tranny. i could get a reman for 1500 and at SP motorsports i found a eurospec Mtx-75 http://spmotorsports.com/ATCcontour_transaxles.html (sorry i dont know how to make it a link) for 895 New. it claims it will bolt right up. basiclly will it and is it worth it. i'm gonna order it with the quaife LSD. this is a time sensitive matter due to the fact i'm limited to my Kaw. ninja till i get it fixed and i dont like riding in the rain esp. the way the back tire is (bald) so any input is good input. yes i did look too. thanks

doesn't the euro spec come with a billet open diff? its not a great handling aid like the quaife, but if your trying to save money it should be much more robust than the stock US unit.

You know snow is expected the end of this week right? The trans. will get shipped to Terry in Rockford, MI and then onto you most likely. It's not oing to be quick by any means. Hope you have other transportation. I know of a 2 tranny's that you could buy for $250 and have Terry replace worn parts and then have it shipped to you. Probably fastest since I could bring one over to his house as soon as you'd like.

Don't forget that the euro spec trans has a taller final drive. Although it will work, the taller gearing will hurt performance unless you have done a alot of mods, like a 3.0 conversion.

Well since he says it has a taller gear ratio i'm assuming you will actually loose a little holeshot, with your basic 3.0... but you will gain top end and actual gas mileage. (running lower rpms on the highway) If you had enough power (F/I 3L) that you were jamming gears like a mad man in there this would actually benefit you because you could ride out the gears longer.

Gearing is always a matter of debate. The taller final drive is a common modification when doing the 3.0 conversion.

Gearing multiplies torque. If the engine produces significantly more torque, you need less gearing. There is a significant increase in torque with the 3.0 conversion. Keeping the stock gearing will provide wild acceleration, but it also makes 1st gear almost unusable (or unneeded) with the 3.0 conversion. The 3.0 will still perform like gangbusters with the taller gearing, but 1st will be more usable and fuel economy will be better.

Also the taller gears permit 0 to 60 with 1st and 2nd gear, with stock gearing you will need to shift to 3rd.

Others will argue for best performance you will want to use even lower gears with the 3.0 conversion.
