Thread: Foreign clutch/shifter

    Default Foreign clutch/shifter

I once drove my friend's stratus sxt and I noticed the clutch and shifter were hugely different from mine. Yet, they are both domestic vehicles. The shifting in the dodge was much much smoother and didn't show any signs of my inexperience with a manual at all. When I asked she said that it was, in fact, a foreign clutch (from mitsu I believe). Now, my question is this: if I wanted to put in a foreign clutch into my CSVT would it have the same effect or was it the car that made things so easy to drive.

The SVT comes with a somewhat heavy duty clutch that is going to emphasis any inexperience you might have in driving a manual just because it is going to bite when you let out the clutch. The MTX75 tranny in our cars is not exactly the smoothest shifting manual out there but it can be smoothened out a bit. If you haven't changed the tranny fluid before, DO IT. Other things you can do to improve shift feel could include a B&M Shifter and or an updated focus shift tower (On the transmission)

I guess I have a thing for V6's with manual transmissions?
