Default Probingzon 1st 3L swap. Cougar

Hey whats up guys. Im currently finishing up on my 3L swap on my coug because the old motor blew.

I figured I would link my build thread from newcougar, since I think I might get more responses here if that is an issue make a proper thread.

Let me know what you guys think.

    1. Why did you have to pull off the front bumper cover to pull the motor?
    2. I believe the sensor on the fuel rail is for a returnless fuel system. Your Cougar has a return style fuel system with a vacuum controlled regulator. Looks like the adapter does too, so just leave the thing on the 3L rail alone.

I took it off because the I didn't have the cherry picker extend enough when I was pulling the motor and it made it easier to reach some of the radiator stuff. I thought my my cougar was a return style. So then I can just plug the tip on that sensor, cool.

Well I attempted to start the car after everything was plugged up. But nothing, it just cranks and that's pretty much it.

Mine did that at first when i tried to start it as well. Next day i bought a new battery and just kept trying to crank it and it started up. Couldnt tell you what it was for sure, but possibly your battery is older or not putting out 100% power

when you've had the fuel system apart, air gets in. When you crank the engine, the air finds its' way to the fuel rail. That air can stay there until the vacuum on the regualator falls and is allowed to escape. That's why sometimes leaving it overnight seems to cure the problem .... or so it happened to me.

Failing that; you could ensure you have

    a spark at the plugs
a descent ground from the engine to the battery
and the multiplugs down the side of the engine are making good connections

these are some of the usual suspects ... G.

edit; just went over the injector wiring. Each injector has a common wire.... this is the +ve. The other wire on each injector which is individually colored ... is the -ve(ground).. actually it goes to the pcm... so don't just ground them. Thought this might help you if you go over the injector wiring again.

the injectors have a common feed not ground.

re-read/correct what you type before entering. It makes it harder for us to understand otherwise ...G.

My apologies I was typing it on my phone, stupid auto correct. Okay, so it has a common ground cool I redid 3 of the injectors because I noticed those where wired different, still didn't know what was what. So I just took the thicker of the 2 wires from injectors and spliced that onto the harness. Well once I did that and bolted everything back into place I go and start the car and nothing doesn't even crank now.

Man I'm so lost I have no clue what to do now.

WOW !! there is a chance you connected a live wire to your PCM.

you should post close up shots of your wiring .... pictures are worth a thousand words ..... G.
