    Default Replace PCV?

I am coming up on 120k miles and I am planning to take the car in to have a major service. I was looking through the maintenance manual and it says that at 100k you should replace the PCV. Is this necessary? Expensive?

Other stuff I'm planning to get done:

    Change engine oil and filter(obv.)
    New air filter
    New fuel filter
    Change trans fluid
Change brake fluid (I want to do some open track soon so going to get high temp stuff. Any comments?)
    Change coolant
    Change cabin air filter
    Wheel alignment
    New tires

Also still debating on whether to do the lower control arms. Last time I had it in the shop I want to take it to, they told me the drivers side would be big bucks to change cause of the difficulty getting the one bolt in and out. Could I do this myself in say a day? Would I need a bunch of tools? I'm pretty good mechanically, but don't have a lot of equipment (or a garage for that matter).

Actually, I think it is 60K miles. Yes, it is necessary. I think they charge 0.5 hour labor and part cost for it.

I disagree. I have the original PCV valve in mine. It still functions perfectly and there is no need to replace it.

The only need for replacement is if it gets sludged up. Even if it has light sludge, it can be cleaned with no ill effects.

    225,000 miles and counting.

I know. That had to do with smog certification. That same condition was not applicable to cars with California certification. The parts are the same.

As long as you get the correct PCV valve, it does not harm to replace it though.

Thanks guys. I looked up the pcv valve and its only like 5 bucks from teamfordparts, so I think I'll just get it done. In my service manual (2000), its says to do it at 100k, maybe a change from earlier models Tony.
I wasn't sure what was yesterday either, but I looked it up on Wikipedia. I had no idea, pretty cool.

Anyone have comments on brake fluid? I was doing a bit of research yesterday and I think I'm going to get the cool blue or something I think its called. Learned a little about brake fluid too, who knew.

If you go with a track fluid like ATE Super Blue (or Yellow), make sure you're able to flush the fluid once a year.

Thats the one, thanks. I will do. This is to do with it absorbing moisture right?

IIRC, it's up to 100k miles. I replaced mine and my mom's just this summer. Unfortunately, the dealership was hesitant to do it for free. I ended up talking with the service manager and working out a deal where he gave me two valves for free and I just did them myself. It's like a ten minute job on the V6.
