Default My very own '98 CSVT

Picked this up from blu_fuz a short while ago. It's old and smelly but it's mine. There's lots of things that need to be addressed before it would be ready for a daily driver, but it's well on it's way. I'm hoping to sort everything out by spring and DD it. It needs a bath, but it's not registered and it's been too cold. I'm hoping to wash the salt off tomorrow. I have tons of love for the car already. She let me drive her home with a bolt in the trans so I'll return the favor and extend her life as long as life permits. Here's a list of what I need to do so far, and I haven't gone through the suspension or brakes yet.

    -Clean up peepers/fogs Headlights Changed
-Check oil, and all fluids Oil is s***

    Thumbs up

Nice to see another one being saved rather than parting it out. Keep us posted on progress!

I've been looking for a cheap SVT like this that would be most likely parted out for me to save. This one is truly perfect for me. As luck would have it I had T-red skirts and a rear bumper that it needed. I had purchased them for my SE some time ago but never got around to painting. I took the grille and headlights from my SE while its down with a broken diff but I will not be taking any other parts off of it, aside from the shift knob that should match the T-red well lol. I'm not against owning 2 Contours so I'll fix the SE.

I'd like to upgrade the brakes and suspension but I'll keep the 2.5 until it spins a bearing, throws a rod or whatever else it decides to do Duratec-style. At that point, if it has the original motor, it would be salvaged if possible. I will definitely ditch the "truck" tires. I keep thinking I should throw on my SE wheels just to get rid of them and also to see what SE wheels look like on an SVT for s**** and giggles but there's so much other stuff to do...

Oh this is the one he had on FB with that terrible interior? Nice save. And I thought the black one I just sold was too much to save. This one is far worse.

Yes, it is the one on FB, it was also on NECO. The worn/stained carpet, missing console screws, 3/4" tear on one of the rear door panels and the "marring" on the HVAC controls are about the worst things interior wise. The seats are in great shape. It was a smokers car but I haven't found any burn holes. There are dings and dents and many other issues, but it's pretty solid for the most part so there wont be any issues of it being able to be saved other than time and money. I wanted one I could bring back from death row and that's what I got. Besides a blown front strut and worn rear mounts it drives well for the miles. I'll go through it all to make it safe though.

Looks like it needs a bit of love but sounds like it's found a good home. At least the drivetrain sounds like it's pretty solid, I bought my 99 Cougar with a rod knock, diff that was toast/3rd gear grind and broken sunroof and got all that fixed up.

Keep up the good work and get 'er up and running strong again!
