99 SVT for Sale in San Francisco - 97K miles
For sale soon (but not quite yet): 1999 Ford Contour SVT, Silver Frost, #1900 of 2760. 97,xxx miles. Very good shape. This car has essentially been my daily driver for the last 3 ½ years. I bought it with about 63K miles on it. Car lives in San Francisco. Looking for $4500.
Car is basically stock with some minor extras. Wheels have been replaced by 17 inch Enkei RS-6 (one is currently missing the SVT endcap, though – I think it was stolen in a parking lot). Interior has some carbon fiber trim in the dash and doors, put in by prior owner. Original SVT dual exhaust replaced by a Sebring dual, which sounds good (again, it came with the car). OEM stereo has been swapped out; current unit is a removable singe disc JVC, which as I recall can have a changer added and an iPod plugged directly in (but not charged). Windows and rear are tinted (about a shade dark, for my taste), and I think the lights are aftermarket, as both hi and lo beams seem a little brighter than average. Car has a Clifford alarm with 2 fobs, and has 3 Ford keys.
This car has been dead reliable for me. I’ve done a bunch of preventive maintenance, some of it probably unnecessary, and swapped out some wear parts. Upon purchase, I did the following: New water pump, serpentine belt, added DMD, spark plugs and wires, front brake rotors, front crank seal, flush coolant, replace transmission fluid with Redline “cocktail”. I cleaned the UIM and LIM. Have also replaced the rear pads and battery in the last couple of years. About a year and 10K miles ago, I had the alternator replaced and put on 4 Falken ZE-512s. I also had a CEL about 18 months back and changed the O2 sensors at that time, probably needlessly. I have the oil changed with synthetic every 5K miles. I have records for all this stuff.
Negatives: There’s a little curb rash on a couple of the wheels, and some rubs / scratches on the paint from living in the city (although the car is garaged at night). The sunroof started to make noise a couple of months back, so I stopped using it.
Extras: The previous owner wired an amp into the trunk, and built and installed a speaker box. I left the amp in there but pulled the speaker box out – I’m not the loud bass type, and it took up space. The speaker is in the garage, so the buyer can have it and restore the system if he/she so desires. The original SVT exhaust is also hanging in my garage, and included. Finally, when I had the car aligned at Firestone, I bought the lifetime alignment, which I think is transferable with the car (although I’m not sure).
I’m buying a new car in the next month or so, so this ad is really just to check for local buyers. Feel free to email me (vrtokar@pacbell.net) as I’m having some trouble accessing PMs.
I hope it goes to someone who wants one rather than someone who just buys reasonably cheap transport. Sorry, no digital camera = no pics.
