Thread: Capabilities of an ATX car

  1. Default Capabilities of an ATX car

I have an ATX, and I like it. I don't mind that it's "not as fun" as a 5 speed. I enjoy things like 30-40 mph run-ons, gentle launch drag racing where you walk back up to the competition, and top speed sprints.

Can an ATX handle this? What mods are availble? Oil cooler, and what?

Our ATX has two things against it as a performance transmission. First is the gear ratios. They are fine for a utility car, but far from optimal as a perfromance car. A lower final drive ratio would help, but there are no other ratios avalable. Second is strength. Even if you beef it up with all you can, it won't take the rigors of racing. Look for posts by our residnet expert, Unisys12, and you will find details about what is available for this transmission.
