I'll be repairing my IMRC using the how-to listed.

My question is this, when replacing the transistor, should the metal part of the case be in direct contact with the imrc housing, or do i use an insulating tab between the transistor and the metal of the housing ?

I know to use the white heat conducting paste. I have read some posts that suggest grounding the case of the transistor to the imrc case with a metal screw, while others say not to ground it out... What really has me perplexed is the use of the nylon screw which leads me to believe that the transistor in NOT supposed to be grounded...

Comments ?

DO NOT GROUND THE TRANSISTOR. search for a post by me about my problems with the IMRC and you will find my solution. IIRC the thread is titled "P1519"

I found the thread after figuring out that the search function on this board is in fact case sensitive ... who knew...

thank you...
