    Default i'm alittle confused

OK so i've been reading up on this 3l stuff and i'm alittle confused. from what i could tell all the blocks are the same reguardless. it sounds like the heads are the big "argument" on what better. So those of you with 3.0s what are you using and why. i basiclly wanna know what block(year and what car its out of) what heads what cams and what UIM & LIM being used. and if you have dyno number that would be nice. i've tried searching but i didnt find anything worth while please help me out and try to keep the flaming to a min. please thanks

I'm soon to be running 3L with port matched 3L heads, SVT Cams, SVT UIM and LIM. This and straight 3L heads with 3L intakes are the most popular types of swaps and then there's also the hybrid route using the 2.5L heads.

I think the most popular route that I have read is just like the previous post. 3L Block, 3L heads port matched for SVT intake, svt timing components, and SVT upper and lower intake manifolds.

    My set-up is below.

Basically, I would go with 3L heads. Why...?

    1. They have the extra oil drain-back holes that the 2.5 heads don't have. So those long right turn on-ramps, and oil starvation due to right turns, is no longer an issue.

    2. With 2.5 heads, the CR is pretty high. The 3L heads will keep it modest and safer if you choose to go with a turbo or something later on down the road.

    3. Larger Valves

I've seen similar numbers with both options. I tend to see a little bit higher numbers with the 3L heads over the 2.5 ones. Of course, that doesn't mean much because bolt-ons and tunes play a role in everything. On top of that, it seems more people with 3L heads post their dyno #'s than those with 2.5 heads do. So that might be a bit jaded.
