Thread: injector question

  1. #1

    Default injector question

Are Green Top 42# Ford injectors okay to use with our cars. The part number on the injectors is XL3V-A5A

basically what I'm asking is are they high-impedance injectors. Also what style plug would these require, and if different from the stock harness, which I'm sure they are, what would be the most economical solution to getting the appropriate harness for them.

42# green tops are what are in my car. The injector plug is the rectangular style. Easiest fix is to grab some square connectors out of a junkyard car (typically 99 or older) and solder the ends onto your current harness. Otherwise, you could try splicing in the whole injector harness from a 98-99 contour and see how that goes.

Depending on your power goals, the 38-39# injectors out of SVT Cobras with returnless fuel systems should just plug into your existing fuel rail and wire harness.

3.0L, T3/T4 turbo... pushing well past 350whp, my goal is 400whp...

39# injectors is squeezing it very tight, but the bummer is I can get a set for 50$, and the cheapest (right now) I can find a set of 42# is 120$...

If $70.00 is going to make or break the the project, don't start it.

Sorry, 39# injectors is not squeezing it tight IMHO.

36# injectors and a walbro pump was no where near taxed on my car with ~330wHP. Simple math says the 36# injectors will work fine for a 350wHP car.
For 400 wHP, the 39# injectors will probably work even if they are on the top end. Therefore the 39# injectors are perfect for the 350<target<400 wHP ranges.
For >=400wHP I'd use 42#. We haven't tested 42# at 400+ so we don't know their upper limits so if you are shooting for 450wHP maybe look at 50# injectors.

They were on ebay... and ended up selling for 71$...

I didn't buy them... now the sad part is the 42#s for 120$ is gone too, and the cheapest I can find 42#s right now is 209$ ... ah well that's what I get for dragging my feet.
