    Default 3.0L sable

i have my engine almost all together but i ran into a problem with the pass. top motor mount. ive searched and found that for a taurus swap you need a 01+ cougar mount. but mine is a sable block so should i get a sable mount or the cougar mount. i dont know if they are the same bolt pattern.

I think you can just grind your mount and reuse it. The cougar mount, if I am not mistaken is just smaller and requires less grinding to make it fit without removing the heads. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Yeah dude, just grind a little bit at a time until it fits. That's what I did. Also, after you're done grinding, spray it with a couple of coats of fancy paint so it doesn't rust and looks cool.

The sable block means absolutely nothing. I've never seen any of the duratec 2.5 or 3L blocks that didn't have the holes in between the heads for the mounts. The only difference I've ever noted is that some of the old mounts had larger bolts in them so the block had to match that as well. You should be able to just reuse your 2.5 mounts (SVT is the same as all the rest).

If the holes don't line up as you say, please take a picture and send it our way so we can see what you're talking about.

    Thanks,

01+ has smaller holes! That's why you need the Cougar mount!

    Todd,

You're wrong and right at the same time. The newer engines do have smaller holes, however many of the 2.5 mounts also had the smaller holes. I've actually only ever had one of the mounts that had the large holes and that was on a 98 2.5 motor. I'm pretty sure his 2000 motor will have the smaller holes and if he does happen to have an older contour that has the bigger holes, he will need a new mount and bolts.

Yeah, I found out the hard way that I needed a different mount.

It held me back another week from completing my swap while the dealer ordered it. Then the idiots ordered 4 of the same bolts instead of 2 short, 2 long. That was another week wait.....
