    Default Trunk light

I recently swapped my pre 98 decklid back to a post 98 decklid and i noticed my trunk light is not working. The bulb is good i followed the wires all the way back to the drivers side rear door. What causes the light to come on in the trunk? The 99svt has a spot for a switch to mount right behind the driver side hinge. my very early build 98 se has no spot for a switch but the trunk light always worked in it. Any one know what triggers the trunk light to come on?

Im looking for the same answer. My light is not shutting off... there has to be a switch somewhere, when I first couldn't find it I thought it might be on a timer of some sort rather than a button like switch... so I crawled into the trunk and waited... needless to say nvr went off. I'm going to check my owners manual and other online sources. Should be able to find it. Might be a thread here. Checking that too.

I had the same problem. It ended up killing my battery over and over again. I'm not sure why. So I just took the bulb out.

I have given up on trying to figure out whats going on back there. I have power in the trunk from the amplifier. I am going to make my own switch and run it that way.

It's not on the trunk lid so the year of the trunk lid makes no difference. It's mounted under the rear deck towards the edge of the trunk opening.

This, in my 95 it broke off which caused the light to never shut off. I just taped it in the off position! Perhaps check the switch, perhaps it's become disconnected somehow.
