    Default Rebuild?

I have a 2000 CSVT. My problem is that it takes me like 20-30 seconds to shift it into first or third gear. Any faster than that and the gear grinds badly. Also, sometimes when shifting the car will not go into gear at all, I have to release the clutch and reengage it then it seems to go into gear. After searching I am pretty sure it is the syncros for the first problem. If not can anyone suggest anything else? I tried to email Terry since I saw his name many many times in my searches about being the expert on our trans. If I have to rebuild it, I was hoping to get some insight as to what would be the best course of action. Should I just replaced worn parts or while I have it down should I replace and rebuild the trans with all that I can? What is the average price to rebuild the trans? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Ya money is an issue. If I had the money I would probably do everything while I had it out, but unfortunatly I cant. I want to fix the problem and depending on overall price, upgrade what parts I can while I am in there. It all just depends on parts and prices.

yea first and 3rd gear syncros need to be replaced. bill j can get you them for a good price, and remember to get the updated 3rd gear because it is different. as for the locking out of gear, that could be caused by bent shift forks. either by slamming the shifter into gear or forcing the car into gear. when i had mine out they look to be bronze or something similar to that color. they arent very strong, so this might help you. either that or something to do with your shift tower not lining up with your forks.
