Default So I've started searching for howto read CEL codes

for my 1995 contour. The quick link (http://www.contour.org/FAQ/FAQ.php?s=probs&displayid=10) in the Welcome to CEG new users! READ THIS! thread is broken, gives http code 404.
I suppose maybe the howtos are moved to the ftp server, which I cannot access either. So I'm still searching, until I find it or someone has pity and supplies a link.

    Thanks, Slim

Default reading 1995 DuraTec CEL codes

Does anyone have a link to procedure for reading 1995 CEL codes, and a table of values? I cannot seem to access the ftp server, at least here at work. I will try later at home, but if anyone has a link it would be helpful.

    Thank you.

    Default Cross post?

PS, What cross posts? The first two posts were the mandatory training posts, third was in troubleshooting, what I need to do. Thanks very much for the CEL links again.

the new members classroom only requires one post/thread to become a full active member. The second thread you started there asked the same question as you asked in troubleshooting, that is cross posting. Putting the same post in two seperate forums. This can make it very difficult to help a member with information in two or more different locations. Either way the NMC and troubleshooting where not the correct location for the question that you had. This is why the posts have been combined and moved here to the general discussion forum.

    Default Ok, at the risk

of being upbraided again, I did read the codes, I think, although it was difficult. Test light is connected between STO and positive battery terminal. The last blink of each code seemed much longer than previous code flashes: What I think was 11 was one quick flash followed a longer flash.

The 6 second pause periods discussed online were periods where the test light was on.

What I think is a 33 was three quick flashes, 2s off period, two quick flashes followed by one long flash. The off time between quick flashes and long flashes was the same. It seemed as if the last flash of the ones place of the code was prolonged. This pattern repeated on all codes in current and continuous.

I may try counting the CEL flashes, to see if it's any easier or the same.

So if I read the codes right, I got none in current condition, then 33, 23, 32 in continuous memory.

33 is TPS noisy/harsh on line, 23 is TPS out of range, 32 is EGR position sensor below closed limit.

Some of the insulation on TPS wiring is cracked, must be from age and engine heat.

If anyone can confirm or disavow my code interpretation, that would be helpful, thank you.

OK, it makes a difference, I had test light connected to negative terminal, so I was getting the opposite sense of light: it was off when ECU requested on, and vice versa.

Code from CEL were the same: 33, 23 and 32.

I taped up TPS wires with cracked and missing insulation, so far no CEL.

    Thanks group.
