Angry So i pulled my door ding guards.....

have a 99 CSVT with the nasty looking door ding guards and i pulled them off the other day and of course started with the back doors..spent a few hours removing all the tape and have a blister on my thumb now and cleaned them up and they look great.
Went and removed the front doors and after cleaning them up it looks like both front doors have been repainted and they didnt remove the guards before doing the paint ?!?
so now i have a pretty noticable and decent area under the molding where you can see they sprayed a few coats clear and didnt make it under the guards.

wondering if some light wetsanding will knock it down, then spray a coat of clear..wetsand again and a light coat of clear and more sanding will do the trick?

anyone come across this problem? if so what did you do to fix it?
its a major eyesore for me now and want to take care of it, but dont want to get screwed ending up at a paint shop....

any input would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear - 90% of these cars have been repainted with the ding guards on..... I say put the 98 style back on the car if you can't hide that edge. They look better anyway.

I was able to sand down the extra clearcoat when that happened to me. it's smooth as a baby's butt but the paint still doesnt match. If it's polished and waxed its not as noticeable to people who don't actually care(everyone) but i see it every time =(

Get the doors resprayed. Although being black it may be hard to blend with the rest of the unibody, but it still may look decent. Or just put em back on. When I did mine I pull a little off, cleaned the paint up to make sure it looked good under. If it didnt I would have to just stuck that door guard right back on there. Good luck.

yeah i was gonna peek behind and check the paint but i started with the rear doors and they looked good so i went ahead and did the rear first and they look perfect and cant even tell they were ever on there. it was when i got to my fronts i had the issue and it was a little late and already had the blister so i wasnt about to put them back on lol
