    Default Need to vent

My finance's car and my car got hit be what is believed to be a drunk driver Dec 31st in the early morning while we were sleeping. My car had a bunch of little damage that just add up quickly(2108.99 worth quickly) while Amanda's car passenger front 1/4 panel and bumper is what received the most damage on her car.

The bad news is that Amanda's car is only covered on liability so she is entering into car payments and selling the Intrepid. The good portion of this news is that her new car will be a 2000 contour v6 atx.

The good news, My car has full coverage.

The reason I waited for the rant is so I could get the pictures scanned.
The intrepid is after the cheap fix, before wiring the bumper to the car.

What type of liability is that? She wasn't at fault, so they should be paying for the fix.

Yeah, their insurance pays if you know who "they" are. If it was a hit and run, the only way insurance will pay is if there is collision coverage on that vehicle. Sounds like what happens to me.

yep. And even if you do find out who did it its very hard to prove that it was them. My friend got his eagle talon totalled when it was parked outside his house by a drunk driver who smashed into it, lost a tire and crashed his truck into the curb. He just claimed it was stolen and coming from a small town the sheriff investigating it and everybody else knew that it was him but couldn't prove it. Sucks that had to happen, and hopefully it will all get fixed. At least you had liability, that should save quite a bit as the Contour didn't look too good!

Basically what the officer told me was, the best they can do in this situation is keep an eye out for a red car(paint on Amanda's car) with driver side damage. Then ,even if they find someone who meets this description, its almost impossible to prosecute, due to there are no witnesses.

I once was involved in a hit and run and it was really snowing out, the first one of the year. Some hit my car (my brothers old car) and made it slide forward about 6 feet. Didn't look like there was a scratch on it. They way I found out was, we were at a freinds and my freind was going to go outside for something and cops were everywhere. So, after a bit I was going to leave after all the cops left. When I got to the car I was like, oh great a ticket. Turns out it was a note from the cops stating that the car was involved in a hit and run. They caught the person who did it a ways down the road. If it wasn't for that I would have never known. Weird how these things can happen....push a car six feet and no damage at all.
