Default Not very audio system proficient...seeking some opinions on a setup

I have been looking into getting a sub and amp recently. I am thinking of going with one 10" sub and mounting it just under the rear deck facing up. I will be building a custom box for this... I have been looking around and came across a sub/amp combo that I think will sound pretty good but I wanna verify this from some people who know what they are talking about on here.

    For the sub:
    1. Pioneer TS-SW2541D or the
    2. Pioneer TS-W251R
    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DGvRAlG...ems=130TSS2541
    For the amp:
    Pioneer GM-7200M
    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DGvRAlG...0&I=130GM7200M

NOW, all I am really looking for in a setup is a nice punchy bass sound because I listen to metal/rock/punk kinda music. Not so much a fan of the droney sound of rap music even tho I might sometimes venture into it... I just want to make sure that a setup like this is what I am going to need...there might be a possibility of getting a second 10" sub and mounting it in the same way but on the other side of the trunk. Is a mono amp going to be a good choice for just one sub with the possibility of expansion in the future? The first sub choice on my list was picked due to the small size associated with it, which would be sweet but not necessary...and the second sub, I think, will need a lower powered amp...can someone verify that? I appreciate any help and guidance ya'll can provide. Thanks

The best website for you to go through is www.onlinecarstereo.com. Ive had good experience through them and they have real low prices. If you want the sound to hit pretty hard, i would get a 10 inch kicker. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14819. For an amp. I would get a Rockford Fosgate Punch 600watt mono amp. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14327.

Trust me it will sound great!

I dont know what it is about Kickers, maybe it is just my preference, but I have never liked them. Everyone I have ever heard, at car shows mostly, have not been that good. They are very scratchy and can not transfer nicely between diff frequencies. They are only good for loud, annoying bass that shakes trunks.

I have 2 alpine amps that work very well.

I have JL Audio subs, love them. Correct me if Im wrong, I believe they were rated the number 1 subwoofer last year.

Again that is my opinion, and everyone is diff. It is all what you like and what you want.

I would go and listen to them with the amp somewhere, that is the only way to tell if you will really like them. bring a CD with some of your favorite songs to listen to.

    Power rating isnt everything either.

Subs also sound diff depending on the car, the way they are mounted and the volume of air they push.

Will probably sell for about the same as that Pioneer amp, maybe less. If you're looking to run a single sub with moderate power, this would be the perfect amp. If you want more info about it, feel free to ask.

Will everyone please stop spewing this garbage? Please?

    "Brand X just hit hard..."

"...my friend has a Brand Y that hits twice as hard as my two crappy Brand Z 12"..."

    Baloney!!

No conversation about subs is valid unless you also include the enclosure it was mounted in.

Please include the following when presenting opinions about the performance of a subwoofer system:

    1. size of the enclosure in cubic feet.
    2. type of enclosure (sealed, ported, band-pass, free-air, etc)
    3. tuning frequency if not sealed or free-air
    4. also, if commenting about how loud the bass is please include what amplifier is powering the sub(s) (do not just say it is a 1,000,000 watt ILS* amp from Rockwood or Kenford... first give brand and model number)

The reason for all this additional information is it has a direct impact on its performance and how a listener may perceive its performance. The same speaker in different enclosures can and will perform very differently. Without this additional information to provide a frame of reference, your opinion is meaningless to the rest of us.

    * ILS - "If Lightning Strikes" and provides 1.21 gigawatts of power, the amp will put out 1,000,000 watts of peak power.
