almost forgot I saw what I believe was a 97, zetec, atx in the junk yard and it had code RED3, as someone had ripped out the pcm then left it in the car ...

I'll also check out my '96 Zetec MTX when I have a chance.

This is great. It is going to be a good resource and we'll probably sticky this thread for reference.

This is the kind of stuff that makes CEG one of the best, most organized forums.

Should the table include a column to identify if the car is equipped with PATS?

My Contour & Mystique V-6 were both PATS equipped, but the Zetec SE doesn't have it. Funny too, that the Zetec is the only one with ABS...

Great work guys! This thread has enough value now that I stickied it.

We probably should start an FAQ thread also and when it shapes up we can sticky it at the top.

WE can discuss tuning packages, aftermarket maf adjusters like SAFC/eManage/etc. and any chip/setup people have been using.

Is that swapping the whole ecu?
We can confirm the sfg2 strategy/program or what have you can be used on a sfg0 ecu (using xcal2).

yes I swapped the whole pcm, the SFG0 and SFG2 codes for the SVT in my 99 SE ... I plan to dyno in the spring or earlier depending on weather to see how much power I pic up with the SFG0 code, amyeb the SFG2 code also ... but more over the SFGx series of codes seems to be used int eh SVT from 98.5 through 99 ...

What? What? I didn't think the PATS system would allow that !! Isn't the SVT PCM hunting for the chip from the SVT key? How can the SE key start the car without the pcm matching key chip??

yes the SVT PCM would be looking for the key that is "programmed" to that particular PCM .... the trick to the whole think is to get a PCM with the keys .... The SFG2 PCM I have came with one key which allows me to start the car ... The SFG0 PCM I got came with two keys ... this or course started the car when I used a non-pats key in my ignition and held the correct key to it so it could be read ... actually that goes with both PCMs that I have ... now the SFG0 pcm has two keys ... this allowed me to "program" my keys to the SVT pcm and therefor i can start the car with my keys and the SVT PCM like normal ...

now you could also pull the PATs transmitter out of the key and swap it to make the ignition keys work ... you could also swap out keys completely ... I would have done this but the keys I got when from a 98 and the RJL1 code isn't compatable with my car ...

lastly if you have no keys or just one you could pay Ford to "program" the keys ...

I held out until I found a PCM with 2 keys ...
