    Default Laundry List

Today was the final breaking point! I know I am new but here this is what I have, 98 svt mostly stock and I was being stupid today in the rain and E-braked it around a corner and wasn't on the throttle hard enough to keep it from swinging out. Ditch ripped off rear cover and driver side skirt. Here are the things I need .... do not post classified ads in the general forums.

Watch the classifieds, this really isnt the place to post WTB threads for parts, although many of those parts, you can find at your local salvage yard. Also, paypal is a much better way to go than money orders or cashiers checks.

Kinda not cool of you to go around ruining parts like those that are already in short demand. Don't use the e-brake for slides either. I bet the girls that were watching werent nearly as impressed when you biffed it. Maybe you should get a honda instead?

I highly disagree. Especially in the snow I am usually sideways half of commute when I have a coat of powder. It makes the mornings so much better.

yes it can be fun if you can keep the car under control but it isn't smart at all to be doing this on a public road.

Sorry guys for the inappropriate post as well as location of it. I have been rally crossing for years now so I now how to handle a car for the most part. I am nice to the car but I believe cars are meant to be driven. Sorry again.

idk. I could do that in my wife's zetec with just throttle in the snow or gravel. Her neon too. Her neon and her old zetec contour were both automatics, with stock suspension..... so yeah.... E-brake not really necessary. Could do it in my GL in the rain even with foot brake and throttle.... or going fast enough on cool dry pavement.

If you are going to slide a vehicle, it should be a controlled slide. E-Brake drifts are for noobs and kids showing off for girls.

Per the you tube video that's exactly what I was doing. Down shift prior to turn all throttle and a little rear brake to keep front pointed in the direction you want to go. Foot pedal braking in any contour dose not have enough rear braking to power to achieve this unless you have a per portioning valve. From my experience anyway not to disagree with anyone.

Doesn't appear there was any braking involved in that slide, though I may be wrong. IIRC, the car in the video has some kind of ATB diff and he was just using a really thick rear sway bar to keep the car nice and stiff, and was traveling with enough speed that the car reacted naturally and controlled. During that slide, the front wheels were controlling the direction of the car, as it should be, and the rear only lost traction while lining up with the front. As far as slides go, my experience is that using brakes to break tires loose is not the way to go. I use brakes only to shift weight. A little light braking is a good way to shift the weight to the front of the vehicle to give the extra traction to your drive/steer tires during maneuvering. E-braking is for overcoming extreme understeer when you absolutely have to give up rear end traction. Best case scenario in any situation (outside of sport drifting) is to maintain as much traction as possible. The more grip you are able to maintain, the easier a car is to control, and the higher speeds you can make a maneuver. The longer it takes you to regain traction after a corner, the longer it will be before you can accelerate, react to the unexpected, or set up for your next corner.

Your car would be incapable of performing the same maneuver in the same manner as the car in the video since you more than likely have stock or near stock suspension and do not have an LSD or ATB diff. This means in that type of slide, you only really have traction and power on 1 wheel, where as the car in the video can easily maintain it in 2 wheels. If you have been "rally crossing for years" you should understand that.

I am honestly not trying to flame you or be mean, but yeah.....
