Here is an email I just got. They are going to be joining the forum and answering questions here too. They stated in the email "We do not outsource". I again can send out the first one to get done if you guys want to see a finished product.
Also, guys, come up with more products you want too (brake kit!!!), I think they just might be interested!
:)

Bill,

Sorry for the delay in response. I am following the Contour.org thread, and
as soon as my login is approved, I will post up there to answer questions
directly.

So you can better field questions from the Contour.org, here are a few
points of clarification.

My handle on SHOforum is SHOpartsNW. Kurt(NWGRN94MTX) and I started making
BBBs probably 6-7 years ago about the time when SHO Shop started having
problems. He did the CNC work and developed the tooling, and I helped Kurt
come up with the design for the butterfly plates. Since then, I do the
disassembly/reassembly, while Kurt does the CNC work. We have always built
our own BBBs; we do not outsource. We have continued to build other custom
parts which and we were a supplier to SHOnutperformance, MidwestSHO and
SHObros. This year, Kurt and I teamed up with Matt (LoudSHO92) to form SHO
Source, and we are still growing our business. We still sell to
SHOnutperformance (Josh), and he sells to us. Although we do drop ship some
components, we build a number of custom parts like the BBBs, custome
machined PBR caliper kits, multiple brake kits, and camber caster plates for
coilovers.

When we first started BBBs for the SHO, we had to cover our tooling costs,
so some of the first sets sold for $250-300. Since we started doing BBBs,
we have sold probably around 200-300 sets, so our tooling is now paid for,
and we have been able to drop our price back to $189. In the case of the
Contour, we will have to build up a cost estimate for new tooling. Group
buy pricing will depend on how many we can get in the first run. I think it
is definitely possible to make the product, and I know we can do a top
quality job. If we can get a stock set to take measurements from that would
be the first step. We will also need to finalize if you want both bores at
37mm, and if you want plates or other modifications.

Thanks for helping us our on the Contour side. If there are any other
products you want or can't get, let us know. We are growing SHO Source, and
plan to expand into other car platforms.

Let us know what your other questions are, and we will get back to you as
soon as we can.

Mike

ahhhhh..ic,i didn't realize that he was part of shosource. the other members of shosource were part of the old shobrothers...long story. but yeah,i get it now. so the guy that used to make them FOR shobrothers,is now part of shosource:crazy:

any word on him doing 95's too? nothing would really need to be changed for the tooling since the end product will be the same.

I have not seen a 95 since I pulled the one off my mystique but show me and pic and I will send it to him.

well,it looks just like the later manifolds. just that it has the secondaries act. by a vaccum solenoid instead of the imrc box.

I have a pre-98 lower and upper manifold if anyone would like to purchase for core/modifcations

I'm also interested pending final price.

And have an already disassembled core that could be sent for prototyping if they need several for whatever reason

Hi everyone my name is Matt and I am one of the guys from SHO Source.

We should be able to do either style though some pictures will help.

Mike will post here once he gets past the newbie section. We are always looking to do different products as we have a few in the works right now for the SHO.

Sweet I'm looking forward to seeing some new stuff.

Oh, and here's a picture of the Sho-shop LIM, just to get a idea of what this will sorta look like.

I'll be taking some more pictures if you want something specific - Let me know.

matt, you guys should look into offering acid ported uim's for the contour too...a much cheaper alternative to the exhoned one's.

I am going to be sending out my core to them today to get this rolling. I am also going to try to get a brake kit for us guys who cant afford the baers or wilwoods.

From Matt at Sho Source aka LOUDSHO92

I just posted over there.

We do have a porter who can do both hand porting and acid porting which is
very close to extrude honing for much less.

We can get a Contour section going if there is demand.

From Mike (whos stuck in the newbie section for now lol...sorry Mike)
Bill,

Glad to help. We are the masochistic type that enjoy working on obsolete,
abandoned car designs.

I am signed up on CEG, but I can only post over in the newbie section for 5
posts or 14 days. I really don't want to spam the group, so I am trying to
figure out how I can make 5 posts without being a pain. On SHOforum, I only

post when I feel it adds something, so my post count is pretty low.

I am still learning the Contour platform, so I will take any help you can
offer. Making bored LIMs should be pretty straight forward. As long as the

castings are the same, it does not matter if the butterflies are vacuum or
mechanical. People could decide to keep the plates removed, or we can have
the correct larger plates made. Typically, I would keep the plates in to
help the low end (the open plates should provide a restriction on only the
most heavily modified engines). If you want to send us a set of cores to
get a better idea of the tooling, that would be the best first step. You
can send it to:

As for other things we do. We currently have a top knotch hand porter who
does porting work on the SHO intakes (pretty complex). I am pretty sure he
could do just about any porting you would want on a Contour intake.

We do build brake kits. If you can tell me a little more about your common
brake upgrade options. With the Taurus, some years can share the calipers
with Mustangs for example. Worst case, I would need a knuckle/rotor/caliper

assembly to play with. I might be able to pick one up at a local junkyard.
Ideally, I would like to find out what Baer uses to make thier kits, and we
can see what we can offer.

We sell the TwEECer and TwEECer R/T, as this is a common tuner used on
modified SHOs. We use them on our personal 400+hp supercharged SHOs.

We can also get just about any commercial performance part on the market.
This is our "drop shipping" area. We can get Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Zex,
Hawk, Koni, Eibach, Ground Control, gauges, custom gauge faces, silicone
hoses, etc. If there are parts the Contour community needs, we can add a
section on SHO Source that caters just to Contours.

Hope that helps, and until I get past the "newbie" period on CEG, I guess I
will be a bit of a lurker.

Mike

brake options would be nice. i don't thing people have messed around much w/seeing what other cars brakes fit w/little to no modifications. for example,on the probe boards people have found that:
mazda6,3000gt vr4,millenia S,mpv calipars all fit, some require custom caliper brackets,or shims to work.

Though with the affordable NPG Focus SVT brake kit, I think another kit isn't as important as other items. Though.... beyond the LIM, I can't think of anything else they could do right now.

I think it would be worth it. I would like to see an affordable 2 piston brake kit.
thats what i'm saying, all those calipars i listed are 2-4 piston, and can be had much cheaper than wilwoods or the like.
the npg might be affordable, but it isnt really that bolt on. theres grinding and such that needs to be done, not everyone has the confidence to tackle that,or the tools

Hopefully either Matt or Mike will chime in here and see what they can do for us :) Its nice to know that people are still willing to help the poor old Contour out.
