    Default Fuel level problem

I just replaced my fuel pump and now my fuel gauge doesn't seem right. I was at a little below 3/4 of a tank and filled up and put 8 gallons in it. I am not sure what is going on but if I put 8 gallons in shouldn't I have been close to half a tank or less. Any suggestions is greatly appriciated.

Common problem with ford cars. The first quarter of a tank takes forever to get through, the last 3/4s go by quickly.

Just an odd little thing that goes with a lot of ford cars, especially as they get older, is a fuel gauge that never reads accurately. I am actually pretty amazed that my escorts gauge reads correctly.

I just go by my odometer to tell how much gas I have.

That exact same thing was happening to my 99 svt right before the fuel pump failed (about 500 miles of that before it was over). You might want to look into that.

I just replaced the fuel pump. It wasn't doing that before, but has since I replaced it.

Well I think I figured this out. I let the tank go empty and at about a 1/2 gallon left it seem to reset back to what it should be and has been fine since.

The fuel pump and the fuel level sender are two different things though.
