Default Goodbye CSVT Hello 2010 SHO

Yep, It’s true I am gonna order a new SHO, I drove one at my local dealer and LOVED it! It is not the same kind of car the CSVT was but that doesn't make it less appealing to me. I love the CSVT it is a really fun car that, at the time it was built, was a loaded technologically advanced car. I'm in my 40's now, not dead but increasingly enjoy the comfort and conveniences offered in the sport luxury cars of today and the Taurus SHO definitely fits the bill.
I know the SHO is heavy, really HEAVY, but it doesn't drive like its so big and heavy, and the technology built into this car is IMHO unsurpassed, the blind spot indicator system, cross traffic warning, imminent collision warning, adaptive cruise control, auto dimming HID's, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming rear and side view mirrors, and rear view camera make this car into the total package, not to mention the heated, cooled and massaging front seats. Ford has taken the next step in keyless entry and push button starting, it seems so well integrated, 20 CU/FT of trunk space, 20" factory wheels, and it fully integrates my Zune with the MS Sync option. Of course the 365HP 350LB/FT of torque coming from the Direct Injection Twin Turbo 3.5 Liter V-6 certainly goes a long way toward my satisfaction with the driving experience of this car too. Ford has built a winner here and I am certain time will prove that out. I want to be in on the front of this ride.
I guess if I were to complain it would be in the lack of a MTX option -DARN! but a paddle shifted six speed ATX will have to suffice (swallowing hard). What also interests me is that I can spec out and order the SHO for me, and in doing so from the cars inception I will for the first time (for me) be able to collect all the original documentation and properly preserve it for the vehicles history and unlikely but possible resale many years from now.
This means I will be selling my CSVT so I can make room for the new Ford in my life, haven't thought much yet about the asking price but I will post that in the appropriate area when I do. Would love to hear what others think of Fords latest entry into the performance/luxury world.

I want the upgraded gearing etc which is included in the SHO performance package option, I am still ironing out some other issues before ordering my SHO because I just finished building a house, but now that the house is done my first order of business is sitting down with my Ford dealer to order my SHO, I can't wait. I have family obligations at Thanksgiving in New York so my hope is to have it ordered before I leave for that visit up north. again I have briefly spoke with the dealership about getting invoices and other official documents to assemble a complete collection of the "birth rights" of my SHO and they were more than happy to give me the originals and keep copies for themselves, again I just think these documents will only sweeten the total package years down the road especially after they arte no longer in production.

...and if you get a nice tune, you'll be running that SHO in the high 12s.

    Thumbs up

Ford has really changed for the better over the years. I can see you in a Taurus SHO. I'm 56 and gave it a good look myself. I'm waiting for a SVT Fusion! Hopefully it will have a six speed manual tranny in it. Alas, manual trannys are a dying breed which is why I will keep my CSVT forever! Give my left foot something to do on the weekends!

You will out-drag my 1991 SHO, easily. I looked at a Metallic Black one recently, and saw a Metallic Brown one in front of another dealer as well. Oddly, both dealers had no "regular Taurus". I'll have to take a spin asap..I think the new SHO will be popular, it has a lot of buzz on the Web, and 12 sec range 1/4 miles on YouTube!

The lack of an MTX in the SHO is a buzz killer for me. Manually operated ATX's, even with flappy paddles, could be problematic without a rev matching program for downshifts if you want them to have any sort of reasonable life span. That said, I think Ford is in pretty good shape relative to its competition and the SHO is a good addition to their lineup. Were I to contemplate replacing my SVTC with something new from Ford I'd likely look at a GT500 Shelby. If I want the ability to haul more than one passenger I'll just load them into my F150 Supercrew.

Good choice. I really like the direction Ford is going in. I test drove the Taurus SEL w/all the bells and whistles and I was extremely impressed. I'm sure the SHO is a blast to drive.
