zetec vanagon???

maybe i missed it, but im surprised no one has posted here about this before.

a guy at work came in sat and sun to help cover for vacationing co-working and through him i found out that vdub vanagon are being converted to zetec in the same way that 3.0's are swapped into 'tours

i had no idea...just did a quick google a quite a few pages came up

he already owns a vanagon, still stock at this point and just picked up his zetec engine from a salvage yard last week....he says only the 03-06 zetec works and any water-cooled vanagon

and apparently, there's turbo kits

first i've heard of it, thought it was pretty interesting. anyone else know about this swap?

I think gdub made a valid point about how a 3L goes into a 'tour.

i can only imagine a zetec is quite an upgrade to a vanagon motor. Especially if its turboed. Actually sounds pretty neat.

you could, but that's less of a stretch. the contour is a car, with a suspension and enging balance that is well suited for performance mods. it's not a boxy people mover with the engine in the wrong place.
