    Default front end clunking

ok so when i drive i can hear the front end of my svt clicking and sometimes clunking around. it dosnt feel lose or so i think. now i had the same prob on the rear but i fixed it by putting new swaybar/endlink bushings in. im thinking its my endlinks in the front. before winter hit i inspected the front end. the rubber seals on the ball joints and end links were ripped. what is your input on this matter?

Could be your axle/axles up front. If they lose all there grease, they can become shot.

Most likely shot end links. Might want to do control arms if you're doing ball joints as well if the boots are ripped. $99 a pair for the 2 bolt style. I'm guessing they are original. Any play in the frony wheels?

Axles clunk huh? If you're axles are clunking I don't think it would be going too far.

no it cant be the axles. as far as play in the front wheels if you mean in the stearing than no. its pretty tight. but the clunking got worse this winter with the cold weather. and i notice in the past week that when i stop the car you can here the front end squeek as it dives down. struts? ahhh to much work

edit: ok after looking though all the info on my ford cd i think i can replace the ball joints and such. i would just need to get a ball joint press and maybe spring compresser?

also after reading the ford cd i see what you mean as free play in the front wheels. i havent checked that but as far as i know i think theres no play. also reading it i found that when i turn right sometimes (90 deg turn) that i do have the binding or pop. and front what i just read im fudged

ball joint press? New ball joints are about $30 from Ford and new arms with new subframe bushings are $50. Very wise to replace the arms with new ball joints attached rather than grinding off the old riveted ones and bolting on the new ones. As i just said your control arm bushings are most likely shot.

looks like thats what ill be doing this spring. as for the control arms dose my 99svt use the vertical bush witch are the $55 ones. also dont i need to push the ball joint out with a press/puller? the one were you use it to pop the ball joint out by tightining it also my control arm bushings are ripped so i think i got it all figured out.

edit: after reading more theres no way i can do the drivers side control arm. i read you must support the motor and trans. theres no way i can do that. i dont have the tools for it.

You buy new ball joints. You don't need a press. I'm baffled by your continual press comments. For the LCA's you undo the nuts and push the bolt off so you can cut it off with a sawsall. Install new bolts upside down. Trim access bolt threads. Easy peasy. 2 bolt are the easy ones. You're lucky you don't have the 4 bolt.

Ive been hearing silimar sounds as well. Some poping when I go over light bumps and etc. I have new LCA's, and the BAT kit which is 1.5 years old..what else can be causing all this?
