Thread: Strange problem

    Default Strange problem

Well my rotor was rubbing on the pads only in a certain spot. So I thought the rotor was out of round...the dial indicator showed it was wobbling. Next was the hub, I dial indicated that and it was wobbling too. So, I went out and got a new hub, that still wobbles on there. Is it possible for the spindle to make everything wobble?
Also, is the spindle the same for the disc and drums, abs and non abs?

    Front or rear hub?

If the front hub then you probably have a screwed up axle nut. Try getting a brand new axle nut and torquing to the proper specs.
The axle nut puts the proper preload on the wheel bearings in the front. The axle and the hub are clamped together with the bearing in the middle, all mounted on the axle shaft. Proper torque!
If it still wobbles you may need a new hub.
Also, you can't have a ton of rust on the splines or it won't seat properly. Lubricate the splines and use a wire brush to remove what you can, lube again before installing.

If it is the rear then you may just have a bad rear hub bearing.
