problem with resetting the pcm right before an OBDII emissions test is you will have a code P1000 which means the PCM was jsut reset and all of the self tests have not been run. You can fail for this.

the mil-eliminators are designed to prevent the P0420 and P0430 pre-cat codes.

one should pass sniff test emissions if the main cat is working and up to temp even without pre-cats. pre-cats are mainly used while the enigne is coming to temp and the main cat is warming up so it can work.

To the OP, I just bought two precats, used about 30,000mi. They're just a precaution right now because I have been hearing a bad rattle in that area and Im afraid mine are shot.. If I inspect them and they're ok, I'd be willing to part with my spare set. PM me if you are interested.

Because they dont have the cats inside them. Sometimes that causes the check engine light to come on but others have said it never did.

You can get aftermarket, called my guy at muffler express, about $600 for both. But I agree with others just gut them out and install mil's.

They shouldnt do both a sniff and an OBDII check. In the event of a sniff test you'd still have the main cat there doing all the work.

Install the two mil elims and then drive about 30 miles or so (I don't know how long you have to drive) and then it will go away. I would say install the mil's a week or two before you get the emissons and then you'll be fine. just my 2cents... I could be wrong, but it worked for me.

I failed obdII once, now I am restricted to sniff test only. In Ohio when you fail obdII they offer to sniff test. If you except the offer you are no longer able to take the obdII version.

If you register it as a collector vehicle are you exempt from emission testing? That's what I did, collector plates keeps you from taking emission testing in my area.
