Default What are you doing for 9/11/06?

I'm thinking of going to visit WTC again after work tomorrow. I haven't actually been there for over 2 years to read all of the plaques and pay my respects. Of course, my American flag is out, and will stay displayed from now on.

What about you guys, doing anything or watching the tons of specials on TV?

not really, just going to treat it as like any other ordinary day. I have a 5 hour cell structure lab so by the time I get back, i'll be hitting the books, no time for TV.

I figured I would go to work and tell the other people what I did on 9/11/2001.

I didn't find out anything happened until like 8pm. and was in a video tele confrence with air force bases all over the country

    Work,

although I think 9/11 should become a national holiday at some point in my lifetime.

I wish I could get there sometime soon. I could never pay respects to family and to all others who died. My cousin just retired, after finally finishing review/documentation of all communication between the police and firefighters on 9-11.

Here's a link to the page to honor Firefighter James Gray (and all others)

For some reason this year, 9/11 just really touched me more. I feel ashamed to say that I never really took much thought into it over the past years. I feel the need, more than ever to get involved with something relating the memory of 9/11.

Tomorrow night I'm going to church because they are having a special mass for the memory of 9/11.

I think it's scary to think about the fact that we are still not safe from these people.

That was discussed on some news show I was watching the other day. There was a man speaking how he did NOT want 9/11 to become a national holiday because, among many reasons, 'it would just give Americans another excuse to take a day off work'. I'm rather in agreement with him since it would depersonalize the actual event. Veteran's Day is a good example - a lot of people will treat it as just another three-day weekend, and I don't even have that day off.

Today, I'll be working and doing exactly what the terrorists don't want: keeping the US productive on this day.

    working

Will probably watch something or other on tv tonight, most likely whatever they broadcast before the football game.

We'll be heading to NYC for this coming weekend, so after the games, we're hoping to stop by WTC site to pay our respects.
