Thread: Dumb question

    Question Dumb question

So, ive been looking at intakes on ebay and have found some extremely cheap Focus short rams. My question is: Is there a difference between the Focus's SOHC and DOHC intakes? They have just about as many for both. The SOHC ones are MUCH cheaper, and if they would fit i would love to get one.

The SOHC versions are for the SPI engine, not the Zetec. it might fit but i really doubt it. just get the one for the Zetec (DOHC).

By SOHC intake do you mean this?

If so, I'm very sure it will work. It might take a bit of stretching for the filter and/or coupler, but I think that's what a friend and I both have. You can always get a different coupler or a different filter or a different breather hose! I have some of that blue breather hose pictured on the bottom pic, and it works REALLY well and NEVER kinks. It is very stiff.

I got my Focus ZX3 SOHC short ram intake off ebay for $10

Just have to heat up some of the rubber parts to make them fit.

Either one of the two pictured above will suffice.

Bottom one has a better breather hose. Go with that one. Sourcing out a replacement breather hose can be tough...I have dealt with it personally.

It is a give and take though. The top one doesn't have a hole in the 90 degree elbow which he wont fill because he has a 2000 with no separate IAT sensor. It's a matter of either finding better breather hosing or buying a new 3inch elbow.
