    Default oppinions on 5mm

would putting 5mm spacers make much of a difference over stock running on 215/40/17`s or should I opt up to 15mm?

5mm wont be too noticable. 15mm you will definetely be able to notice. Im running 13mm spacers on the front of my car just so my 19s can clear my baer brakes. You can tell that the front wheels have a wider stance than the back wheels. I do not recommend running 15mm on the rear. Youll run into rubbing issues for sure.
