P0174: Bank 2 too Lean... I got this code again, it goes away in the winter time when i put my open element K&N on and take the screen out of the intake b/w the air filter and the MAS.. Now it is winter and i put the stock intake back in and put the screen back in and the code is back once again... Is this an O2 sensor or not? I was told iit is not an 02 but idk...It also could be a vaccuum leak and the guy at the stealership wanted to do a smoke test.. is ther any way i can do this myself? thnx for the help

    Default 02

I got the same thing... mine is lower bank high emissions though... It goes away when it gets cold out. Is that normal? Maybe it's a dirty 02 sensor? I have no idea. Anyone?

Spray carb cleaner at Bank 2 UIM/LIM gaskets or hoses or clamps. If idle changes, you found your leak. There could be other reasons for P0174 too.

P0174 - System Too Lean (Bank 2)The Adaptive Fuel Strategy continuously monitors fuel delivery hardware. The code is set when the adaptive fuel tables reach a rich calibrated limit.

    Fuel System:
    · Contaminated fuel injectors
    · Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel (fuel pump, filter, fuel supply line restrictions)
    · Vapor recovery system (VMV)
    Induction System:
    · MAF contamination
    · Air leaks between the MAF and throttle body
    · Vacuum leaks
    · PCV system concern
    · Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
    EGR System:
    · Leaking gasket
    · Stuck EGR valve
    · Leaking diaphragm or EVR
    Base Engine:
    · Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S
    · Secondary air concern
    Powertrain Control System:
    · PCM concern

    Totaly and completely unrelated.

Start with your code(s) as SEARCH keywords so you have a better idea of what's going on. MOst likely cat efficiency codes....

Get the code(s) read free at Autozone or Advance and post the exact code(s) here.

I put a new fuel filter on, checked the EGR that works right, and checked for vacuum leaks, and checked to see if the motor was holding vacuum.. can it be an 02 sensor still?

Clean the MAF sensor. If that doesn't work, then get a new O2 sensor (Bank 2-radiator side Upper).

I got my bro's MAF on off of his 99 SVT and he has mine.. so i reset my computer and now the light is off so i'll give it a couple of weeks and if it comes on again we're gonna start swapping 02 sensor's.
