Thread: Wheel Bearing Issue?

    Default Wheel Bearing Issue?

    Hey all,

I'm having an issue with my Contour, a 1996 Zetec 2.0 with 105k on it. While driving (at ~15 MPH and higher), the car will make a LOUD hum if I am driving to the left, even just slightly. I got new front tires in August and the car passed inspection a week ago. The mechanic did say though, that he had a really hard time getting the right-front wheel off because of rust.

Is this indicative of a bad wheel bearing(If so, which one..)? Or is it something else? Whatever it is, is this something simple and quick to do, or something I should just bring in for.

    Thanks for all the help,
    Dylan

P.S. If this isn't a wheel issue, then I apologize for it being in the wrong section.

Sounds like a wheel bearing issue to me. It should increasingly get louder the faster you move. Jack up the car and the wheels to see if there is any play in the wheels. If its a bad wheel bearing, you should be able to move the wheel up and down.
