    Default Suspension issues

I was just informed that I need to replace the two lower control arms on the front suspension because the bushings are shot (which I knew about) and that the trailing arm on the rear suspension is bent.

    Any guidance would be appreciated...

    I have a 1999 Ford Contour SE SPORT V6

I guess I would need Ford Part numbers, any DYI's, and what exactly we are looking at to do this. I have a friend who is a mechanic that will help me, but I want to do some research before I get into this.

Where else can I get these parts? Are there any aftermarket companies that make these and would work for my car?

I appreciate any help to get me going in the right direction.

Anybody know about the lower control arms or the rear trailing arms?

Firstly, the rr trailing arms are supposed to be bent. There's a kink in them to clear the wheel/tire assembly. What is more likely is that the (lateral) toe control arm is bent. This happens all too often when some unknowledgeable person jacks the car up on those flimsy Ford stampings. Best way to find out for certain is to remove both rr wheels and look along the long axis of the rearmost control arm. If it's bent or twisted, replace it. If you use the Ford junk, expect to do it again and again and again....

I make all kinds of better rr suspension parts, but you're best to figure out exactly what's wrong first. Front A arms are a different story but need to know either the yr. of your car or whether they're 2 or 4 bolt type.

Sorry, missed the '99 part. You've got 2 bolt A arms. Good luck!

I got mine from Steve @ Tousey Ford. They weren't too bad to do. I can look up the part #'s later if you need them.

I would appreciate the part numbers.

    Thanks.

I'll check on the other suspension parts.
