Thread: Short Throw

  1. #1

    Default Short Throw

So I found this on Steeda's site....

    http://www.steedafocus.com/store/Drivetrain-Steeda-Tri-Ax/F-Short-Throw-Shifter---'00-'02-1/2/c24_43/p50/Steeda-Tri-Ax/F-Short-Throw-Shifter---'00-'02-1/2/product_info.html

Which looks similar to the one in this post....

    http://contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread...ht=short+throw

Does anyone know if this will work for the SVT Contour, even though it says non-svt.... And to go with the thread referenced, I haven't been able to find anything for the Contour on Steeda's site, was that a one time deal where a group buy had to be done to get it done?

I'd like to know also, a "true" short shifter would be the next idea upgrade for me.

It says "except SVT" for a reason. That reason being they are talking about the Focus SVT, not SVT Contour.

Focus SVT uses a Getrag 6-speed.

Get the shifter, get a plate made and call it a day.

Great idea.... I want a steeda short throw, and I can't find one for the contour anywhere.... sp, the suggested place to look, only has b&m shifters.... and if I could find it, I wouldn't be posting now would I, I've looking and unable to find anything for purchasing steeda shifters...

Just cut down your stock shifter and use a new shift knob.

Honestly that is about what a BM is and the steeda is only slightly different. All three choices truly shorten the throw of the shift but the steeda is the only one I know of that preserves the shifter height that the contour has pretty closely. It shortens the throw but has more height.

I drove a B&M equiped car and I actually liked the shorter shifter better but I bought a steeda. I liked it too, but if I had to do over I would just get the B&M because of the lower height and easy swap.
Or cut the shifter, I neved did try that but it should be the same and be cheaper.

Maybe try looking under the FOCUS and not the contour, could probably find more choices for the focus shifters under there..

And Tom.. suggesting cutting the stock one.. NOOOO. Not even close to what a Steeda will feel like. B&M however..
