    Default Engine List

Does anyone remember where the list of acceptable 3.0l to use is?

I seem to remember some discussion awhile ago about subtle differences between different platforms and years after 01 and someone compiling a list of cars to pull an engine from.

    Thanks.

One other thing, isn't there a cutoff year for engines as well? Like don't get something newer than 2005 example.

And why can't I find that thread that has all this? Does it not exist anymore or did it ever?

After reading through that thread, it seems that the 01-04 Escape motors are prefered and that anything after 05 has a cast crank vs. forged in previous years.

No, the only engines that have a cast crank are the 3.0L in the Ford 500/Montego/Freestyle. All other 3.0L Duratec engines, regardless of model year have a forged crank.

Those write ups are fairly accurate. Only big thing that I saw is that the author incorrectly states that the 3.0L Mazda6 and MPV have DAMB cylinder heads when they actually use RFF cylinder heads.
