If you would like to WRITE a how-to, please do so, however a few guidelines should be observed:

1. Keep it understandable.

We all write a little faster than we think, sometimes. We get ahead of ourselves and leave out important details. Although it may SEEM mundane and very common to YOU to turn the power off before doing a procedure you must write any informational how-tos with the COMPLETE NOVICE in mind.

2. Keep it concise.

Although it would be nice to have one large thread that walks you through a complete overhaul of an engine and transmission, try not to over do the contents of a file. Keep it manageable.. both for editing purposes and to make it understandable for users. If one person needs to learn how to pull the spark plugs but has to read through 44 pages of a how-to (complete engine and transmission) then its lost somewhere and the average user will give up, or never find it.

3. Be accurate.

If you don't KNOW, don't say it. Telling a user which tools to get, which sizes to buy or how much to tighten a part can cost them time, money and aggravation, not to mention it could be quite dangerous or deadly to perform an action that isn't safe simply because they read about it in a how-to. State all opinions or guesses as such. If it isn't FACT, it shouldn't be stated as such, or left open to be discerned as such.
